the largest apple in a world…mine.
I haven’t been apple picking in years, and it was such a great time. We went to the County Line Orchard in Hobart, IN. They have at least 10 different varieties of apples along with gorgeous pumpkins. After about sweaty, but enjoyable, hour of trumping through the orchard, we joined fellow apple-pickers at the onsite restaurant and enjoyed a live band made up of four middle schoolers who were clearly passionate about the music and excited to be in front of such a big audience. They’d probably hate this description, as they were rocking hard on their electric guitars, keyboard and drums, but they were just so ADORABLE. Actually, they were talented too, but mostly adorable. I wish I’d gotten the band’s name as I’d share it here.
Later we did a little shopping in the store and found apple butter, freshly-baked apple cinnamon doughnuts (Oh my God), and of course, caramel apples. I also enjoyed freshly grilled, still-on-the-cob sweet corn. It was just so…YUM. Before finally leaving for the day, we made our happy, muddy way through the maze in the cornfield, because of course they have a cornfield.
All in all, it was a terrific day, and had my brain churning with ideas for scenes in a sweet romance.
Laters,
Lisa
