I’ve been stalled for most of the year. I haven’t been writing as much as I should (we’ll forget that little confession for the moment), and I haven’t been doing other things like I should. One of those things is taking a run every morning. My excuse for foregoing it was winter. Now to be fair, it’s a darn good excuse. Chicago winters are no joke, and I, unfortunately, have a hard time making myself run in temperatures below 25 degrees or in more than a few inches of snow. So for me, the advent of spring usually works to give me a good swift kick in the pants and I get up and get going. But this year spring has been really sometimey — and trust me, as a gemini with a mother who didn’t brook with sometimey (she never even tried), I know it when I see it, and spring, 2015 is definitely sometimey.
Anyway, all that is to say that I have barely been inspired by the season to get out and run. But today I made myself go, and besides getting some fresh air, I also got to enjoy a little bit of nature. So though my bum knee isn’t thanking me, I’m really glad I did it. Happy spring and getting going!
*sometimey: to act inconsistently; to behave differently from day to day
