I always thought that Lena Horne was just a cool ass chick. Check out this video, and you’ll see what I mean:

Of course, she was also outspoken about civil and social rights, a trailblazer and a damned good jazz singer and actress.  I’ve never met the woman, and have only seen a few of her performances in movies and on television, but I have a HUGE sense of loss. Her death means the loss of something amazing, I believe. There are very few around like her anymore.
